Following Televëda’s success with the ADHS project on social isolation for underserved populations, Televëda and Mercy Care partner to bring digital literacy to older adult, American Indian, and veteran populations. Mercy Care in Arizona has generously stepped up to help improve utilization of their health services using Televëda's resources. These digital literacy programs are available to all Mercy Care members in Arizona. The programs focus on lower income families and older adults to get personalized training on devices. The program is also using surveys to measure improvements on digital literacy and social isolation.
Mercy Care helps users navigate their digital devices and connect with new friends with Televëda. The literacy classes are more than just computers. Members will learn a wide variety of skills including cell phones, tablets, and skills navigating the Internet for tasks such as emails, paying online bills, making doctor's appointments. Classes will be tailored to the needs of the members and have high levels of class participation.
Besides digital training, members can utilize the digital platform to enjoy workout classes, brain games, bingo, creative writing classes, yoga, Zumba and more. Mercy Care will help you learn how to use your digital devices to access Televëda.
Members will have access to continuous support via phone, email, or text with Televëda staff. Members can meet and connect with other like-minded learners and new friends from their neighborhood and around the world.
The program has three initiatives:
The program creates digital literacy assessments and a customized, culturally appropriate digital literacy curriculum. The program supports members in person, at home, and remotely with hands on support.
Mercy Care members can connect with each other to find like-minded people who share their hobbies and interests.
Mercy Care members receive the chance to learn new technologies, access important resources, and connect with providers, family, and friends in new ways.
